On Friday 7th October, Year 5 and 6 headed off to explore the great outdoors – in particular, the wild moorland wilderness of Kinder Scout in Derbyshire.
Later in the year, Upper school will be presenting a drama production set against the backdrop of the 1932 Kinder Trespass, so our trip was an opportunity to soak ourselves ( literally, as it turned out) in the atmosphere of the place. We also learned a little about the history and geography of the area.
No amount of careful planning can allow for the vagaries of the weather, however, and on this occasion we were comprehensively drenched and sadly didn’t make the summit.
All credit to our children, who showed amazing resilience and didn’t moan once!
A return visit, with hopefully a better forecast and a better outcome, is planned for the summer term.
