Year 1 and 2 have had a super time this term, and the highlight has to be our trip to The Deep bringing our topic work on The World and Beyond to life. It was so good to finally be able to take the children out of school on a trip and to see amazing sea creatures in the flesh! The stingrays and penguins were particularly popular! We also had a lesson in the education centre with staff from The Deep.

Year 1 and 2 have been working on their place value in maths, writing number sentences, adding and subtracting and working hard on their number bonds to 10, 20 and 100.

In English Year 2 have looked at following instructions, the use of bossy verbs, designing our own sea creature recipes and punctuation of sentences. We also made our own jam tarts which were delicious.
Year 1 have been working on requests and commands, bossy verbs and using drama to turn statements into requests and commands! We have been focusing on the texts ‘What you Shouldn’t do before school’ and you can’t take an elephant on the bus. The children made their own version of the latter book using various animals and modes of transport.

In Forest Learning we have been starting to make our giant willow octopus, children have coppiced willow themselves and replanted it, whilst practicing their knot tying skills.

Children have created some amazing artwork this term, making sea scenes, drawing self portraits, making and sailing their boats (y2) and creating some sharks with very sharp teeth! (y1).

We would like to thank parents for their ongoing support and look forward to seeing them at parents evening in November. After the holidays, we are very excited to start working on our rehearsals for our Fireside Nativity which we hope you will be able to come and watch.

Have a lovely break,

Mrs Wells x and Miss Henley x
