Wow! What an exciting half term we have had in Year 1 and 2! Our Topic this term is ‘Once Upon a Time’ and we have spent the first half of the term looking at Fairy Tales.

In Year 1 in Maths we have looked at 3D shapes and have also been writing our own stories as part of our work on Fables and Traditional Tales. In Year 2 in Maths we have been looking at place value, addition and subtraction. We have worked hard in Literacy reading different versions of George and the Dragon (and other dragon stories) and have also written our own dragon tales.

We have had a brilliant time in our topic work, making frog slime, observational frog drawings (Y1), dragon paintings (Y2) working on ‘frog watch’, making our own wands and potions, constructing fairy houses in the forest, making castles from junk (Y1) and making dragons and dragon caves (Y2). We have also planted our own broad beans as part of our work on Fairy Tales and will be growing them at home over half term.

The children have worked so hard and will hopefully have a well-deserved rest over half term!

We have lots planned  for after half term when we will be moving on to ‘dinosaurs’ as the second part of our Topic work.

We would like to thank all of our lovely BH parents for their continued support and look forward to seeing the children after half term, refreshed and recharged ready for the second half of our learning adventure!
