Summer term is cricket term at BH. With all children from Butterflies through to 6 working on their striking and fielding skills. Throwing catching, bowling and hitting the ball.
Fixtures at the start of the term fell foul to the weather with a U9 and a U11 fixture cancelled.
This gave us more time to work on technical skills at school.
Our U11s played Orchard in their first fixture of the term.
Batting first, BH scored 96 from their 12 overs. As Orchard began to bat the heavens opened meaning we had to call of the game.
Last week we played Lincoln Minster at Lindum. Our children rose to the challenge of playing a well organised team with quite a few club players.
LMS batted first scoring 112 with a loss of 8 wickets. Zack and Bethany bowling well for BH.
Our batting began positively with us scoring at a good rate.
The game came down to the last over with BH needing 14. With 2 balls to spare we need 5. 2 wickets in the last two balls meant we lost by 15 runs in the end. An excellent fixture which our students applied themselves superbly.
A highlight of this term was the parents vs staff netball. As usual, the game was played with a competitive edge. The parents taking an early lead but they couldn’t shake of the staff. In the 2nd quarter the staff started to pull away but again the heavens opened meaning the game had to be cut short with the staff winning 7-5.
A shootout took place in the rain with the staff winning 3-2. Thank you to Mrs Collins for helping with the organisation of the event.
A special mention to Mr Oldfield from the PE staff. He has settled in fantastically and accepted every challenge that the PE department has thrown at him with further guidance from Mr Halse. Thank you Mr Oldfield and Mr Halse
