A change of sports for Burton Hathow this term (with the odd hockey fixture thrown in to challenge our children further).
Netball and Football are the sports we are covering across the years this term. Butterflies working on their catching and throwing skills, up to Year 6 learning about positional play in Netball.
We started the term with an under 9 and under 11 football fixtures day with St Hughs. We had 2 under 9 games at BH with St Hugh’s coming out on top in both. It was a proud day for BH though as we fielded a full female team in one fixture and had Killian (yr1) and Ethan (yr2) representing the school for the 1st time.
At St Hughs, both under 11 teams came away losing their matches but with lots of working points for the term.
The following week our U9 Hockey team visited Worksop College to play Ranby House. It is out of season for us as we play hockey in the 1st term but we do love to challenge the BH children.
The game was end to end and very entertaining. The score finished 3-3 with Sophie being named player of the match.
U9’s were back in action on the Wednesday of that week visiting Ranby for some High5 Netball this time. The challenge for our children was to understand the positions and what zones they can play in.
Oscar had an excellent game and scored the winning goal for Burton Hathow.
Orchard visit BH for some under 11 Netball and Football fixtures. A mix up 5 a side football tournament took place. Mr Cox was very happy with the boys progress. The U11 Netball team lost a close game 7-4 with Charlie having an excellent game.
The U11 football team returned to St Hughs to try avenge the losses from earlier in the term. We played 2 games on the day. One against their under 10s and one against the under 11s. The first game ended in a draw and the second game we managed to sneak another draw. Some excellent improvements from the first game of the season.
The U11 Hockey team had a challenging game at Hillhouse, Doncaster. Having the opportunity to play on their Astro was fantastic. The game was a tight affair with Hillhouse winning 4-2. Zack had a wonderful game for BH.
The last U9 fixture of the term was a Netball match against Wellow. Showing huge confidence in their understanding, team BH came away with a 10-0 win. Phoebe, Lily and Jamie having a superb match.
