The Reception children started off their remote learning journey at the beginning of the new term with nervousness and uncertainty. With Miss South having to learn the dynamics of Showbie and Teams, the children, and mainly parents, were extremely patient and supportive.
Our topic for this half of the term has been The World and Beyond, so we have focused on the theme of water. The children have completed activities ranging from making sea creatures, treasure maps, writing wanted posters for pirates, measuring objects using household materials, learning new phonemes and using them in their writing, making obstacle courses, developing their yoga skills and making pirate ships using household objects. And that is only naming a few activities.

It’s not been quite the same as being in our amazing school environment. Creating practical, hands on activities has been a challenge through the internet but the children have embraced the concept and learnt about listening to others and using their language skills to respond clearly and articulately.

The independence these young children have shown has been quite rewarding and we all very much look forward to being back in the classroom where we can continue our learning journey and come back together as a Reception class and as a BH family. The children and parents have been a credit to the school and I thank them enormously for their support.
