We have had a super busy half-term in Reception,  but what a lot of fun we have had along the way!

The children have done some fantastic work on their phonics and are progressing beautifully. We can see the increase in their confidence when they read books, too, which is wonderful to see!

In Maths, we have been exploring shape, pattern, number and even symmetry! The children created some beautiful symmetrical butterflies which we displayed in our window. Our Topic this term saw us continue our work on ‘Marvellous Me’ where we have really celebrated each child being unique. We enjoyed delving into our backgrounds and heritage, learning lots of information about our peers and exploring different countries that we have links to. Although celebrations and festivals have been a little different this year, we have managed to mark these special occasions safely in the classroom; in particular Diwali which we have learned so much about! Our Music lessons with Mrs Nowell got off to a flying start and the children are now beginning to read basic music in order to tap out a rhythm using claves- outstanding work! We are excited to watch the Reception children flourish in Music as they progress through the school.

Next term, our Topic title will be ‘Where On Earth…’ and we cannot wait to get stuck in!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

Take care,

Miss South and Mrs Wells.
