What a busy term we have had in Nursery. It was a nice continuation of last term’s topic, looking at transportation. As a result, the children have been able to recognise different vehicles and how they travel.
This topic has provided the children with many opportunities to explore a variety of materials, such as junk modelling and large construction play. We have seen a lot of collaborative play where children have gathered and used objects from the environment to make all kinds of vehicles from cars on the road to boats in the sea. The Butterflies especially enjoyed making boats and counting how many bears they could get aboard before their boat sank. There was a special interest among Caterpillars in vehicles that fly, as a few children related this to recent holidays. As a result, the home corner was turned into an airport. This term has also been about transition, getting the Butterflies ready for Reception and the Big Caterpillars ready for moving up to be Butterflies! The children have had a lovely time during these sessions and we are sure it is going to be a smooth transition! It was also a lovely to end the term with our event on the meadow for the Caterpillars and sports day with the older  children! I’m sure you will agree we have some budding sports people!!
