At Burton Hathow Nursery & Preparatory School, we are looking for a reception teacher. Burton Hathow Nursery is a beacon of educational excellence nestled in the heart of Lincoln, Lincolnshire. We are looking for a reception teacher who is passionate about creating impactful experiences for children, radiating positivity and enthusiasm. 

Join us in fostering an environment where joy and learning thrive! In this role, you’ll:

  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Promote good progress and outcomes for pupils.
  • Encourage and foster independence.
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils.
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, particularly a clear understanding of systematic synthetic phonics for early reading and appropriate teaching strategies for early maths.
  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons.
  • Having a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including pupils with SEND, pupils of high ability and pupils with EAL, and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them.
  • Forge strong, supportive relationships with parents and families, ensuring they feel valued partners in their child’s development, and develop strong partnerships with parents and carers to facilitate their involvement in their child’s educational journey.
  • Uphold a culture of safety, respect, and inclusivity, creating a space where every child feels cherished and supported, while maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
  • Foster a vibrant team culture where collaboration and creativity flourish, ensuring every team member feels valued and respected, and support all staff, fostering a cohesive team dynamic and ensuring everyone feels supported in their role.
  • Embrace professional development opportunities with enthusiasm, continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge, and engage in out-of-hours activities with enthusiasm, enriching both your own development and that of the school community.
  • Act as a supportive colleague to the Head of Lower School, addressing concerns promptly and effectively, and work collaboratively with the Head of Lower School and staff team to uphold our shared values and goals.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to pitch in wherever needed, ensuring the smooth operation of the school, and undertake additional responsibilities as needed, contributing to the effectiveness and success of the nursery.

Requirements:

We look forward to welcoming candidates who meet these requirements and share our passion for nurturing the growth and development of young minds:

  • Degree of 2:2 or above 
  • QTS or equivalent. 
  • Previous experience working in a school or early years setting, showcasing your expertise in providing high-quality care and education to young children.

Fluency Duty
