It’s been a busy and exciting start to the new academic year across the school! From space exploration to creative art projects, our pupils have thrown themselves into learning with enthusiasm and imagination.
Lower School have been exploring the wonders of space. They began their topic by creating their very own Space Passports before designing, building, and launching rockets on the field — an event that brought plenty of excitement (and some impressive flights!). The learning has culminated in an exciting and engaging visit from the Planetarium during which the children got to see the stars and learn all about the different constellations. This was followed by a wonderfully engaging workshop. The children were truly in awe of this experience.
Our budding engineers have also been investigating the science of flight. Pupils experimented with building and modifying propellers, designed the most efficient paper aeroplanes, and even constructed parachutes to keep their “egg astronauts” safe during drop tests.
Across the school, our artists have been inspired by the changing season. Year 4 pupils painted striking Rainbow Forests, Year 3 explored mark-making techniques, and Year 6 created expressive wire sculptures that showcased their growing artistic skill.
In Fashion Club, children have been exploring textile design, creating their own tie-dye T-shirts and using marbling techniques to produce unique fabric patterns — each one as individual as its creator.
The forest has been alive with activity this term, with pupils enjoying den building, while our Nursery and Lower School children combined nature and craft to make a delightful range of insects from natural materials in the forest.
Our Gardening club have been diligently tending to our outdoor spaces. As we say farewell to our summer plants and use some of the delicious produce grown in the kitchen, we are preparing signs for our winter crops.
It has truly been a super start to the year — filled with curiosity, creativity and a love of learning that sets the tone for an exciting year ahead.
