This week, our Nursery children enjoyed a wonderful art session exploring a range of different flowers with support from our Upper School pupils and the guidance of our Art Specialist, Mrs Burch.

The children spent time carefully looking at the colours, shapes and patterns they could see in each flower before creating their own beautiful drawings. They talked about the different petals, stems and leaves they noticed and worked hard to choose colours that matched what they could see. The session encouraged the children to look closely at fine details, develop their pencil control and build confidence in expressing their ideas creatively.

Our Upper School pupils were fantastic role models throughout the activity, offering encouragement, asking thoughtful questions and helping the younger children to develop their ideas. Mrs Burch also supported the children in experimenting with different techniques and thinking carefully about how artists observe the world around them.
It was lovely to see the Nursery children so engaged, proud of their work and excited to share their finished flower drawings. Well done to everyone involved in such a calm, creative and collaborative morning.
Nursery and Reception also took part in a joyful International Families event this week, welcoming parents into the setting to celebrate languages, families and different cultures.

To begin the session, the children proudly performed the ‘Hola’ song for their families, showing excellent confidence and enthusiasm as they sang together. Parents were then invited to join their children as they moved around a series of engaging activity stations designed to support early language development and understanding of family structures.
At one station, children explored naming members of the family in Arabic, while at another they practised saying colours in Spanish. The children particularly enjoyed building their own families and houses using loose parts, using their imagination and creativity to bring their ideas to life. There was also a matching activity where children and parents worked together to link family vocabulary in Spanish, reinforcing their developing language skills in a fun and interactive way.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to share their learning with their families, and it was lovely to see such enthusiasm, collaboration and pride throughout the event.
