It has been a busy and exciting period of learning across BH, with pupils engaging in a wide range of creative, practical and outdoor experiences.
The BH Engineers have been developing their design and problem-solving skills by building flood-proof houses. Pupils have had to think carefully about structure, materials and stability, testing and refining their ideas as they worked to create models that could withstand rising water. It has been a fantastic opportunity to apply scientific thinking in a real-world context.

In Year 4 Art, pupils have been exploring texture and tone through the use of charcoal, producing expressive drawings of a sail boat inspired by the style of Carroll Ann Sutherland. Building on this, they have then taken their ideas further by experimenting with collage, exploring how different materials, shapes and layers can be used to represent the same theme in new and imaginative ways.

Year 6 have also been working with collage, creating their own carefully considered compositions. They have been thinking about how colour, pattern and contrast can be combined effectively to create visual impact, demonstrating increasing confidence in their artistic decision-making.

Meanwhile, Year 3 have taken their learning outdoors, using hands-on exploration to develop their understanding of measurement and capacity. Through the creation of “magical potions”, they have been measuring, comparing and estimating in a practical and engaging way, bringing their mathematical learning to life.

It has been wonderful to see pupils across the school immersed in purposeful, creative learning experiences that challenge them to think, explore and apply their skills in different contexts.
