As I said at Prize Giving, the end of the year is always a time for reflection. This time last year we were able to celebrate in-house and were grateful to be one of the few schools in the country who were able to welcome back all year groups prior to the summer holidays. I know the children appreciated that return to school and have many cherished memories. This year, it was a real achievement that we were able to celebrate Prize Giving as a whole BH family and again we are grateful that we have the space and had the glorious sunshine to be able to spread out in our different zones. I like the fact that we have been able to find a solution to the problem we had and I know that every member of the BH family was grateful to be a part of that celebration. Prize Giving is a time to celebrate our successes but I reminded pupils and grown ups about the benefit of focusing our self esteem on not how good, or right or smart we are but in what we have learnt. If we can do this each day then we do not fear new challenges or worry when we don’t get it right. Nothing is seen as a failure; only a learning opportunity. Over the last 18 months then – what have we learnt? We have reassessed our values. Things and people that we took for granted now mean so much more. Family time, friendships, hugs and even school. We know not to take things for granted, we know to appreciate them and care for each other in a way that we never did before. I know for us all Covid has been tough and it isn’t over yet but BH is coming through this pandemic stronger than ever and our whole BH family feels more united and tighter than it ever has. I am excited about our next chapter and I look forward to our continued learning journey together. Farewell year 6 and good luck! Remember once a BH student, always a BH student.
