We have had a fantastic term learning about ‘all creatures great and small’, looking at elephants, chameleons, bees, ladybirds, ants, dragonflies and butterflies. We have looked at animal adaptation and have learnt all about the impact of humans on different animals. We have adopted our own elephant in Africa, who was rescued as a calf and protected from poachers. We have been on mini beast hunts, used pooters to collect bugs, and have set up our own ant farm. Chris the Beekeeper visited Reception, Year 1 and 2 children, and we learnt all about the importance of bees (and tasted honey!). We have learnt all about Burton Hathow dragonflies on (and in) Hathow Lake, and even spotted a kingfisher living by the lake. We celebrated the end of term with our Bug Ball, and children and teachers got together in bug outfits for a picnic and a day of fun.
As our Year 2’s get ready to fly off to Upper school, our 5 beautiful red admiral butterflies emerged from their chrysalides this week, and were set free on the wild flower meadow! A big thank you to all our lovely BH families for their ongoing support throughout this challenging year. We look forward to seeing you all in September. Have a wonderful holiday!
