This term all the Burton Hathow all our children are looking at their striking and fielding skills with our under 9 and under 11 teams playing cricket fixtures against other local schools.

Reception have been working on striking a stationary ball and their rolling, underarm and overarm throw.

Year 1 and 2 have been hitting a bouncing ball and introduced to bowling.

Year 3 and 4 have been primarily focusing on their bowling and catching.

Year 5 & 6 have been looking at hitting the ball along the floor and into gaps.

Cricket season relies on the weather to improve for fixtures to take place. Unfortunately a few of our fixtures have fallen foul to rain.

Our under 9s had a successful 1st game versus Orchard House. Some excellent bowling and fielding from Sophie D and George W meant we restricted Orchard to a small total. Callum B batted very well with BH running out winners.

The U11 visited Ranby for their first game of the term. Ranby were very well organised and restricted BH to a lower score. Sebastian P was our top scorer.

Zack M, Ellie Eve and Matthew D all bowled well but Ranby surpassed our total with a few overs to spare.

All of our U9 cohort attended a cricket festival at St Hugh’s. Lots of cricket enjoyed by all of our pupils with Adam P, Jamie J and Sophie W playing well.

Fingers crossed for improved weather and look forward to more fixtures in the 2nd part of the summer term.
